Slovenia

Portorož

Portorož (Portorose in Italian, literally "Port of Roses") is a coastal town in Slovenia and one of the country's largest tourist areas. Belonging to the Municipality of Piran and inhabited by 3,000 people, Portorož boasts a marina, casino, and numerous sporting facilities. There is also a small international airport in nearby Sečovlje.
Today Portorož is a popular place either for work or vacation and entertainment. Many comfortable hotels are witness to that, with their modern pools, varied culinary proposal of restaurants, and the events attracting visitors from afar. Portorož is also a popular congress location. A visit to the nearby countryside, can colour your day. The coastal towns of Piran, Izola and Koper are intertwined with narrow streets, leading to picturesque squares, encircled with mighty palaces. How to Get to Portorož?

By Train

Portorož may be reached by train from major European cities through bordering countries (Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia) going mainly through Ljubljana to Koper. You can find the appropriate train connection at www.bahn.de . From Koper to Portorož you can take public bus (it drives every 30 min from 5.00 to 22.00 hours) for approx. 3 € or take a taxi.

By Road

All major European motorways passing through Trieste (Italy), Klagenfurt and Graz (Austria) etc. are connected with Ljubljana and Portorož. Drive from Ljubljana or Trieste to Koper and then continue along the coast for Portorož. The Bernardin Convention Centre is located on the coast halfway between Portorož and historic town of Piran.
